Bare copper and grounding

Bare, tinned and insulated grounding conductor for ground grids, counterpoise, equipment bonding and substations.

Three bare grounding conductors side by side: 4/0 AWG 19-wire stranded copper, 2 AWG 7-wire tinned copper and 4 AWG solid copper.
  • Conductors, top to bottom
  • 4/0 AWG stranded copper
  • 2 AWG tinned copper
  • 4 AWG solid copper

Conductor
Copper; copper-clad steel

Applications

Soft-drawn stranded copper is the usual conductor for buried ground grids and rings. Tinned copper is specified for corrosive soils, and copper-clad steel where theft is a concern. Ground rods and connectors are supplied on the same order.

  • Substation and plant ground grids
  • Building grounding electrode systems
  • Equipment and structure bonding
  • Solar and storage site grounding
